After a long day and night wrapped in faith, flavours and laughter, we were all set to bid goodbye to Indore. But wait a minute – the day was still young and my travel diary had a couple of unfinished pages calling out softly, “Not yet.” I was supposed to cover one last spot in the city… umm, actually two 😋
So after freshening up, we gathered around for breakfast and oh, what a breakfast it was! A beautiful tug of war between North and South India, a plateful of harmony that somehow reflected Madhya Pradesh itself – the heart of India where everything meets in the middle perfectly balanced between spice and sweetness, tradition and surprise.
The table looked like a festival of colours and aromas.
🍇 A bowl of fresh fruit salad glistening like morning dew : the first bite, a soft whisper of sweetness that woke my senses.
🍛 Steaming hot idlis dipped in fragrant sambar and a crisp vegetable cheese dosa that stretched into the perfect golden crunch, South India at its comforting best.
🥘 Then came the proud North : aloo, mixed-veg and paneer parathas glistening with a hint of butter, each bite heavy with nostalgia and home.
🍮 Jalebi-Rabri followed like the grand finale : syrupy, indulgent and unapologetically sweet, the kind of dessert that silences even the calorie counters.
☕ And of course, my faithful companion : a strong black coffee that tied all the flavours together with warmth and clarity.
By the end of it, I wasn’t just full, I was content. The kind of contentment that doesn’t come from food alone but from gratitude. Gratitude for mornings that start slow, for journeys that allow you to breathe and for cities that feed both your soul and your appetite.
That breakfast wasn’t just a meal, it was a reminder that travel isn’t about ticking off places, it’s about tasting moments.
🕉️ Khajrana Ganesh Temple(Where Wishes Whisper and Blessings Bloom)
By 8:00 AM, we were ready to explore the final gem of Indore : Khajrana Ganesh Temple 🏛️✨. Our resort bid us a quiet, sun-dappled goodbye 🌅 as we drove through the calm morning streets reaching the temple in about 25 minutes.
The moment I stepped through the gates 🚪, the world shifted. The air was fragrant with incense 🕉️🌿 alive with the rhythmic cadence of chants 📿 and soaked in a divine energy that seemed to embrace every soul present. The premises radiated Ganpati’s benevolent warmth that effortlessly melts away worries, even before you reach the sanctum.
After placing our shoes on the neatly arranged rack 👟, we bought prasad – soft, freshly made besan laddoos wrapped in banana leaf and joined the line for darshan.
Inside, the main sanctum glowed with the presence of Khajrana Ganesh flanked by Riddhi and Siddhi, symbols of prosperity and wisdom 💫. The aura was serene yet powerful, devotion and peace entwined in a seamless embrace.

To the left stood Maa Durga/Parvati, her face radiating calm strength 🌸🔥 and to the right, Lord Mahadev seated in meditative grace 🕉️💙. Together, they formed a sacred triangle of divine energy – creation, preservation and transformation.

As we moved through the complex, I noticed smaller shrines tucked around every corner : Banke Bihari 🌟, Shri Siya-Ram Mandir 🏹💛, Hanuman Mandir 🐒💪, Shani Dev 🌑 and Kal Bhairav ⚡ . But what truly captured my heart was something hidden, a shivling placed deep within a cave-like sanctum 🕳️🪔.
Above it stood Maa Durga fierce yet compassionate 🔥🌺 and below, Lord Shiva, serene in the eternal calm 🌌🕉️. That balance of Shakti and Shiva… it was breathtaking, a silent lesson in harmony and strength.
My mother who had met with an accident earlier this year couldn’t climb the stairs 🩹💔. She smiled and whispered, “You go, beta. Offer prayers on my behalf too.” So I went, carrying both her love and my devotion.
Inside the cool stone chamber ❄️🪨, an elderly lady handed me a tambe ka lota filled with holy water 💧. I offered it gently to the shivling and as I turned, she placed a nariyal and a flower 🌸🥥 in my hand, a divine exchange of devotion and blessing.
The same ritual awaited me at Maa Durga’s shrine, another coconut, another flower 🥥🌺 and this time, it felt deeply symbolic. Almost as if the universe itself whispered, “Take love wherever you go.” 💫
But then… I don’t know what happened, but I saw my mother coming downstairs 🩹👩👦 to offer her own prayers to Lord Shiva 🕉️💙 summoning all the courage she had. It was the most mesmerizing moment I have ever witnessed ✨😢.
The entire experience left me overwhelmed, heart full, eyes moist and spirit light 🌟. We spent nearly 30 minutes exploring every corner, capturing pictures 📸, soaking in the energy and collecting blessings, both in spirit and in the form of extra laddoos for our family back at the resort 😉🍬.
Before leaving, I picked up a small keepsake – a fridge magnet with Khajrana Ganpati’s image 🖼️✨. For me, it wasn’t just a souvenir; it was a piece of blessing, a fragment of that morning’s divine magic to carry home 🏡🙏
🛍️ Namkeen Nirvana(Om Namkeen and the Famous Laung Sev)
Our next stop was the legendary Om Namkeen 🍬✨ Indore’s pride and every foodie’s ultimate temptation. The shop officially opens at 11:00 AM but we arrived early, around 10:40 AM. My driver shrugged and said, “You can get namkeen anywhere in Indore; there are plenty of authentic shops,” and I felt my excitement dip.
Just as we were about to leave, the shop owner appeared and started opening the doors. My heart leapt! I asked the driver to stop, rushed out and confirmed with the owner – yes, they were really opening early! I was overjoyed.
Inside, a local customer had already come in but we were essentially the only two eager visitors standing amidst shelves stacked with endless varieties. I froze, overwhelmed, caught between the dizzying array of flavors, textures and colors – each packet whispering, “Try me!” It was a moment of pure foodie bliss, a tiny slice of Indore magic.
The moment I stepped in, the air hit me like a flavorful storm 🌪️🍛 thick with the fragrance of fried spices 🌶️, roasted dal 🌾, and that unmistakable crunch you can almost hear before even taking a bite 👂🍽️.
Among the endless options, one star shone brightest : the Laung Sev ✨. Crispy, spicy and delicately sprinkled with powdered clove (laung) 🌿🌸, it’s not just a snack – it’s a mood, an emotion, a memory in the making. The first bite explodes with flavor 🌟: the warmth of clove followed by a fiery tang that lingers lovingly ❤️. Perfect with tea, perfect with gossip, perfect with everything ☕💬!
From Beetroot Chiwada, Khatta Meetha Mixture, Ujjaini Sev, lehsun pyaaz mix, spicy mixture, masala long sev to Palak Sev 🌿🥔, I packed them all and maybe a few extras for “relatives” (read: myself 😜).
I have to admit, I was confused by the unlimited namkeen options 😵💫 but then carefully chose the ones that my family and I could enjoy together 🥰🍴 a mix of flavors that would make everyone smile.
With bags full of namkeen 🛍️ and hearts full of joy ❤️, we returned to our resort already planning which ones we’d nibble on first 😉✨.
🍛 A Simple Meal, A Soulful Farewell
Lunch that day was simplicity at its finest 🍛🌿 instantly wrapped me in a warm, nostalgic hug that reminds you of home 🏡❤️.
The spread was complete: daal 🥣, steaming rice 🍚, crispy aloo bhujia 🥔, soft fulka 🫓, tangy pickle 🌶️ and sweet, syrupy gulab jamun 🍬✨. After days of rich, indulgent travel food, this modest meal felt divine in its familiarity. Every bite carried a quiet comfort, a gentle pause in the whirlwind of sightseeing and exploration 🌟.
It wasn’t about presentation or grandeur, it was about the feeling it evoked. The daal, perfectly spiced, mingling with the soft rice, the aloo bhujia adding a gentle crunch, the fulka warm in hand, ready to scoop and savor and the gulab jamun melting sweetly sealing the meal with a sense of contentment 😌💛.
After lunch, we exchanged return gifts 🎁 a sweet and thoughtful gesture from our hosts that perfectly captured the warmth and generosity we had experienced throughout our stay. And with that, it was time to bid adieu to Indore 👋🏙️. Our hearts were full, our bags heavier with memories and maybe a few extra sweets 😉🍬 and our spirits light with the joy of a journey well-lived.
🚗 The Road Back
As our car rolled out of Indore, I felt that strange, bittersweet mix of emotions that travel always brings – happiness for the memories made, nostalgia for the streets and smells we were leaving behind and that quiet, gnawing ache of departure 💛🛣️
We stopped midway at Dodi, a famous highway halt known for its snacks 🍪🥤. The air was fragrant with fried treats, roasted nuts and the earthy aroma of roadside tea ☕🌿. My mom picked up a few munchies for the road, while I wandered curiously and stumbled upon something that felt almost like destiny : dried awala and awala powder 🍊✨. The shopkeeper smiled and said, “Good for hair and stomach, beta,” and I couldn’t help but grin. Somehow, every journey gifts you exactly what you need at the exact right moment 🌟
We reached Bhopal earlier than expected and waited at the station 🚉 surrounded by the hum of life, chatter among friends, chai vendors calling out their steaming cups ☕ and travelers slumped with sleep, eyes half-shut, bags at their feet. That’s when I noticed a stray dog, limping gently toward the passengers. His front paw seemed injured, yet his spirit was unbroken. He wasn’t begging for food, only affection. With hopeful eyes and a slow, tentative wag of his tail, he greeted each traveler. And when he received a gentle pat, he walked away, tail held high, leaving warmth in his wake. That moment struck me profoundly – even in pain, he chose love over fear.
Soon, it was almost train time, yet there was still no announcement. My travel companion and I exchanged glances, half amused, half anxious “Bhai, train kidhar hai?” And then, just like that, without warning or ceremony, the train rolled in 🚂. No announcements, quietly arriving like the goodbyes that are often most profound.
We checked the coach number, found our seats and finally… exhaled. As the train began its gentle journey, I gazed out at the fading lights of Bhopal, the city slowly dissolving into night 🌌. I whispered to myself:
“You can travel the world but peace(sukoon) always waits for you at home” 🏡💫
This journey to Indore wasn’t just a yatra. It was a cleansing of body, mind and soul 🌿✨. A mosaic of moments stitched together by faith, laughter, flavors and a little bit of divine mischief 🎭🍴🕉️
Because in the end, travel isn’t about how far you go, it’s about how deeply you feel 💖💫
